Framing

Paul Fusco: Robert Kennedy Funeral Train. We recommend book-mounting this print in a wide passe-partout and then framing it in a black wooden box. This classic method not only gives visual priority to the image but also fits seamlessly into most interiors. However, if you prefer a different look, other framing options are also available. Additionally, to ensure the highest levels of production, all of our frames are handcrafted to museum standards by one of the UK’s leading workshops. Please note that prices include tax, but exclude framing and shipping costs.

Shipping

We aim to ship unframed works within 2 weeks and framed works within 6 weeks. All orders are shipped from the UK and we always strive to deliver your print as quickly as possible. However, the delivery times may vary, depending on the specific artwork and your location. For exact details, please get in touch. Please note that prices include tax, but exclude framing and shipping costs.

Artwork In Detail

In June 1968, Fusco documented the aftermath of Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination. On commission for Look magazine, Fusco gained exclusive access to photograph aboard the train carrying Kennedy’s body along the East Coast—from New York City to Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C. This image is part of a set of 53 colour photographs from the event, rediscovered and published 30 years later, capturing a nation’s grief with striking immediacy and historical resonance. The work has been recognised as one of the most significant photo essays in American photography. Presented in collaboration with Magnum Photos.

The Artist

Paul Fusco launched his career as a photographer with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Korea and then studied photojournalism at Ohio University. He soon joined Look magazine, where he documented urgent social issues across the U.S. and abroad, from destitute miners and Latino communities to life behind the Iron Curtain. After Look closed, he entered Magnum Photos in 1973 and began publishing widely in Time, LIFE, and The New York Times Magazine. Throughout his career, he focused on the lives of the oppressed, covering AIDS, homelessness, war victims, and the Chernobyl disaster. Above all, his most acclaimed project captured the mourners lining the tracks during Robert F. Kennedy’s funeral train. Today, many prestigious institutions collect Fusco’s work, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum (Washington D.C.), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and also the ICP (New York).
