Earlier this month, the much-anticipated biographical film, ‘LEE’, made its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. Adapted from the 1985 book ‘The Lives of Lee Miller’, the plot follows Miller as she goes from a modelling career to enlisting as a photographer to chronicle the events of World War II for ‘Vogue’.
The rising wave of “Lee Miller Mania” crests with an exhibition devoted to her storied life at Gagosian (New York) as well as a new book, ‘Lee Miller: Photographs by Antony Penrose’. Published last month by Thames & Hudson, the book includes an essay by Miller’s son and a foreword by Kate Winslet.
